Custodial Sentence Avoided Following Fatal Collision

Steve Foster acted for a defendant in relation to an offence of Causing Death by Careless Driving. The defendant appeared for sentence, having pleaded guilty to the matter at the earliest opportunity, and was represented by Miss Sarah O'Kane of counsel.
Following lengthy and powerful mitigation, the Court proceeded to sentence the defendant to a 24 month community order and imposed a 3 year disqualification from driving.
